Traction assist on a Transit

Traction assist on a Transit - Spospe
I am about to buy a new shape Ford Transit and have been offered "Traction Assist" as a £75 (plus VAT) option. My questions are....

1) what is Traction Assist?

2) Is it worth the extra?

I think that this is a limited traction control system. Instead of modulating the brake on each individual driven wheel to prevent wheelspin, it just reduces engine power.
