Mk4 Golf - condensation inside w/screen - AllTorque
I'm finding condensation on the inside of the front windscreen in my Golf Mk4 lately. Nothing obviously wrong, could just be autumn I guess - are they prone to faults that can cause this? Is it an early warning of anything, eg heater radiator?
Had a new w/screen in July, but haven't seen any leaks or anything.

Had this all the time when I had my golf especially if I had the a/c on during colder months.

Found out the best way to reduce this is to not use A/c during winter unless it was a long run and I could use the heater for 20 mins with a/c off to dry it all out.

Common golf fault I beleive.

Change the cabin/pollen filter if you have one ...

I had this exact same problem with my mk4 condensating all the time, i put up with it for three years before deciding enough was enough. Turned out to be a broken pollen filter cover and damp pollen filter. Replaced both from VW for about £17 and No more condensation :)

seeing as the cars always been serviced at VW dealer, thanks for that VW! obviously some incompentant person attempted changing the pollen filter, ended up breaking the filter cover and decided to forget about it!!!

1)Likely candidate - Pollen Filter (Pollen Filter housing could have been disturbed during the fitting of the windscreen)

2)Are you loosing coolant - it is not unknown for the heater matrix to start leaking

3) Leaks - Do you have wet carpets?

Double check that the recirculation button has not been pressed on - this stops fresh air entering the car and causes condensation/steaming up!!!!!!!
