BMW 316 - Air filter change - charlesworth82
Hi,

Hope some can help with this - i am a complete novice with cars.

i just had my MOT done and had some repairs done (BMW 316 1994). On the receipt it says 'air filter'. I assumed this meant they had changed my air filter. However, after going in my boot in a box there seems to be a brand new air filter.

My question is - where abouts in the car is this supposed to go so i can check that one is actually there. And how easy this would be to change myself.

Thanks,

suggest you have a word with the garage to be honest

Are you sure the air filter in the boot is not the old one which the conscientious garage have left to prove they changed it??

I'm not 100% sure - if it is the old one it looks like brand new.

If someone knows where abouts the filter goes i will be able to compare the two.

Look for a black box roughly the same size under the bonnet .

Filter is located inside the car & accessed via the passenger footwell behind the centre console.

this filter (pollen) wouldnt have a baring on the mot dude so he must mean air filter as in filtering air for the carb as in co readings :-)
