1994 Toyota Landcruiser 11 3.0 Turbo D - triggs

Is it possible to replace the engine and gearbox of a 1994 Toyota Landcruiser series 2, 3.0 turbo diesel with the 3.0 Turbo Diesel and gearbox from either a Landcruiser Colorado 3.0TD or even the more modern D4D from the latest Landcruiser model, assuming I can get hold of one?

Or is this mission impossible?

Thanks,

From 1996 on these engines had EDC (electronic diesel control) so you'd need the ecu and a different loom etc. Might be better to look for an engine from a 4Runner or 2nd generation Toyota Surf, 1994 - 1996. Why does it need the whole engine and box? It's normally the heads that go on these, and they are readily available.

Thanks for the suggestion, the engine and gearbox had done 120k miles so I was thinking of putting a complete low mileage unit into it, so maybe I was going a little bit OTT.

Don't worry about the mileage, just make sure it gets regular oil changes. My 1994 4Runner has now covered 184,000 miles and doesn't use any oil or water. I change the oil every 5,000 miles ( I think Toyota recommend 3,000 miles). I always use genuine Toyota filters.
