Then please allow me a few lines to say what an awesome car the Toledo is. I can see myself keeping it for a good few years to come.

Comfy, long legged mile muncher, with all the toys you could want, for the same price as my 306 cost me.

No common rail, yet still manages 110hp and 50mpg thanks to an intercooler and variable vane turbo.

The engine bay is covered in Audi logos, and the dashboard is straight clone of an Audi one too.

Very impressed with it.

That's all. You will now be returned to your usual programming.

This must be SEAT, not Triumph.

I'd be concerned SEAT parts had been replaced by so many AUDI parts, even if they are the same.... I looked at a Toledo V5 when my Golf GTI Turbo was stolen. Driving a loan Audi A4 1.8T Sport at the time.... did not like the cheap SEAT interior and chose another VW. If your dash in a SEAT is an AUDI one then that is a seriously modified car.

And the PD engines (individual high pressure pump per cylinder instead of common rail) are renowned for fuel economy.

Sorry, rtj70, it's standard.

The dashboard in the Toledo and Leon is lifted straight from the Audi A3, albeit the actual materials used might be different.

Blimey, you lose your internet connection for the weekend and the next thing you know your name is getting mentioned in dispatches !!

it's great news that you are as delighted with your car as I am with mine - this forum has so many unhappy bunnies on it that at times I thought that mabye I was Britains only happy motorist !! I've had another weekends joyful motoring, but the highlight was parking next to wedding party on Saturday and listening to the wedding group discussing what a brilliant Bentley my car was and that they bet it was some filthy rich celebrity / footballer that was driving it - no such luck for them sadly, it was the Cat family !!!!!

No problem whatsoever - regarding the wedding, we weren't attending, we'd just drawn up to ask for directions !

I did have another nice experience on Saturday when this 'Old Boy' spent 1/4 an hour with me chatting about the Chrylsers / Lincoln cars of his youth and how much fun / distinctive / different looking they were from more traditional cars and that spending a few minutes looking at my car (he was sat at a pavement cafe) took him back to his youth and all of his happy memories came flooding back. It's always nice when a stranger says something good about your car ( not being blase, but it's something that you have to enjoy if you've got a 300C), but it's even better when you can make someone elses day as well.

IS the 300C Rear Wheel Dirve ?

IS the 300C Rear Wheel Drive ?

Pretty sure it is. Top Gear featured it against a couple of other cars - A Jag S Type, and a Monaro, IIRC.

Indeed it is - which helps make for a smooooootth ride and comfortable handling.

It's not a racing car by any means, but given that i have no intention of driving on a beach or pasting it around a racetrack - I frankly couldn't care less !!

But for effortless highspeed long distance motoring, its the dogs...........

Echo that mss1tw. My TDI 110SE was far cheaper to purcahse than the equivalent Golf/Bora, has given over 50mpg over the last two years/30k and nothing required only routine servicing. I always have a snigger when a mk1 A3 driver passes knowing my car has the same dash, albeit the buttons for warning light etc.being of a considerably cheaper plastic!

Are these the PD based engines or the more simple reliable IDI designs?

I deliberately went for a simple(r) design - no PD, no common rail.
