Just back from a few rather wet days in the far west of Ireland. The pipe and tailbox parted company on a friend's 307 exhaust, so he went into Clifden to see what could be done. Half an hour later, welding job done for 25 euros = £18. Tinkering still lives!!

Pipe to box are not welded now,they are expanded by machine,I forget what its called,But only flange joints needing bolts to join are welded,even silencer has no welds, its all compression fit and made by Computer.
Tinkering is a whats known as short term fix.I dont believe in!
