Problem with paint bubbling - Greg R
Hi

I have a friend who has a Peugeot 206cc coupe. The paintwork on the roof is starting to bubble.

The car has a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty.

She has been to the dealer, and they are saying that they are checking it out with head office. The problem is it is taking a long time for them to come up with answers as the dealer is saying that the car needs to be looked at.

Anyway, what is her best course of action to push this. The dealer seem disinterested.

Thanks for all your help!!

She should check the exact wording of the warranty. For most cars the metal has to be perforated, i.e. corroded all the way through the metal, for you to be able to claim. It sounds more like a paintwork problem to me.

Usually it's called an anti-perforation warranty and to be valid the vehicle needs to be inspected each year with any problems sorted out at your expense.

Sure its not caused by Bird poo?

Its common sense that the dealer has to have a look at it before they comment on the cause or eligability for warranty.

if its bubbling then its either metal corrosion or the paint was applied to an unsatisfactory surface, get it back to the dealer, any decent independant paintshop will have a paint thickness guage and will advise on possibe bubbling causes if you ask nice
