The front windscreen of my saab 9000 has developed a crack( I was not aware of anything hitting it) and needs replaced. Any thing to be wary of? Who are the best to use? Any help appreciated.

If your insurance is fully comp, check who their approved repairer is - the excess may be higher if you opt to go elsewhere.
Glass fitters don't make the screens themselves so there shouldn't be quality variations there. The work is totally dependent on the individual fitter so recommending companies isn't a guide.

If insurance are paying try and get the rubber seals/weatherstrip replaced, they often reuse them after a wipe with solvent. New ones fit better. Make a note of all marking (text) on current screen in case you are not happy with new one. People do have problems with them fitting pattern screens with distortions and tints that don't match. I was one of those at Autoglass, but they put it right with a genuine one.

Quality variations very much in evidence - go for an original screen

Thanks all, being done by RAC autowindscreens under my insurance: fingers crossed all will be well.
