I'm seriously thinking of handing my Mitsubishi Carisma back to the finance company as they have a return policy at every quarter of the balance on the finance agreement. It's an OK car but I would rather have £200/month in my pocket than drive it.

If I was to do this I'd be looking for a cheap around £1000 car that would handle a 50 mile daily commute. Size doesn't matter it would just be to tie me over for 6 months or so, until I get my finances straight. I thought of a Micra, any more other suggestions?

My 04 Shogun Sport is going back to the lease company in July and I'm not looking forward to life without it.
Apart from saving the £240 per month on the lease,
horrendous diesel bills , ghastly service costs and ridiculous insurance premiums.

Not sure what I will get instead but I can certainly put the money saved to better use....

Handing the car back to the Finance Company?

Depending on how long you have had the car / how much you have paid / how much is still to pay.

Have you checked what you owe in a settlement figure and what you might get selling it via the small ads? If you owe say £1,800 ( 9 payments is 1/4 of a 36 mth agreement) and the car will fetch £2,500 you would be better off even allowing for the costs of an advert and getting the car freshened up for sale.
