Blades - Citroënian {P}
Hi all,

The windscreen is beginning to smear. Need new wipers.

I'd usually just go to the Skoda dealer and get the Skoda ones, but would I be better off just going to Halfords and picking some up? If so, which ones?

I just want quality, even the dealer ones are only £25 a set.

Any advice, as ever, much appreciated

I've just bought a pair of Bosch for the Octavia - £19 from Halfords, so assuming a set for the fabia would not be more expensive, you should save about £6


Go on, get out of the car...

If you want smear and judder free go to the dealer and buy the correct complete blade assemblies.

Anything else is a compromise and in my experience a waste of time.

I've got Bosch (from Halfords) at the moment and they're rubbish. I agree with TVM ~ buy genuine parts.

Just bought a 24" single Bosch blade for my MB. About £10 from German and Swedish. Euro Car Parts are also very good on Bosch blades. They do VW and Skoda. Better than Halfords and cheaper. The new blade is totally silent and sweeps perfectly.

There's a couple of people on ebay that just sell wiper blades, I just bought a set of genuine Bosch ones for the Vectra and they were very reasonable (about £13 for the pair including a spoiler on the drivers side). Arrived within a couple of days. Would definitely use him again.

Bought a set of Valeo(sp?) blades for my Xsara, came to 12 quid for 2 and I got a pack of free screenwipes. Absolutely fantastic value for money.

Destroyed the old set when I knocked the wiper switch with my knee during the cold snap.

Thanks for the advice - ended up the princely sum of £2.25 more to get the dealer ones so I've followed TVM. No more smears, now just need to sort out the stupid shoddy washer failure on the C4.....Noticed the blades on that are about six foot long each, should be nice & cheap to replace, I don't think....
