Ambassordor tyres ??? - Paul I
Need some new tyres on my car and I saw in the paper that ATS are doing a buy one get one free deal on Ambassador Tyres

According to them; are made by Michelin and are produced in the EU. I usually pay around £50 per tyre fitted and they are offering 2 for £48 ..to good to be true????

Just remember 'you pays your money and you takes your choice'.
And don't forget the EU now includes a lot of countries from the former Soviet bloc. The French may not like it when foreign companies try to buy into their firms but people like Michelin don't mind exploiting the cheap labour now available to the east, as long as the resulting products are badged with another name!
The tyres will likely be wooden and they won't last long but they'll comply with the necessary standards and if they suit your sort of driving then they're cheap.
PS: I run my knockabout car on four cheap E European tyres...

Did a search on "which" recently for the best buy tyres, and phoned up loads of local places for them. ATS, all all the other profitering people were quoting around £70 - 80 per tyre. Local place £45 for same thing. Guess where I went.
Moral - if ATS are doing it cheap, someone else is doing better things cheaper.

I would only fit these if i needed to change them and then was going to sell the car. Might be cheap but the road holding qualities and milega will be poor.
Had my fingers burnt with Avon CR322 cheap to buy but wore them ouut PDQ worked out that it would have been better financial sense to fit Michelins.
Much the same can be said about National Tyres budget Continental range.

Made by michelin probably means that michelin have recently bought an east european tyre manufacturer and have not yet upped the standards.

costco gives best price for michelins (thats real michelins) as well as one of michelins east european companies - cant remember the name but I think its a polish brand

Kleber?? recently replaced the Bridgestones all round with these and they are noticeably better in ride and poss roadholding. Too early to comment on mileage. Blackcircles.co.uk ( or com?) gives you a 'rock family tree' of who makes what and where. My local independant also sold me 2 'Falt' tyres recently - Argentinian manufacturer apparently, cannot understand the financial logic of that.
