Renault Automatic Gearbox - John Basnett
The auto gearbox on our 93 Espace V6 has got stuck in 2nd gear twice now, both times on long motorway journeys. Each time, pulling in at the side of the road and turning off the engine briefly has solved the problem. The car has done 59k miles. I know Renault auto gearboxes have a habit of going wrong so is this a sign that the gear box will soon need a bit of work done on it

Any help or advice would be greatly apprecaited

That's probably the well known problem with the valve block of the autobox. Solenoids fail and seals give way.
