Hello all & apologies to those who frequent the technical board.
I have a 51 plate 2.2 with 39k on it. Done over 10k in the last 8 months, mostly mway, use millers diesel additive, good fuel & bounce it off the rev limiter once a week. It has most certainly enjoyed the attention of an italian tune-up.
Before this I had a 110HDI model.
Now then. I reckon that this 2.2 has little, if any, more power than the 110, applies its power higher up the rev range & isn't as refined. In short the way it delivers the drive is rather more like my old non CR 205 TD, i.e in & out, all or nothing.
What is everyone else's experience here? Perhaps I had a particularly good 110 & a not quite so well set up 136? Perhaps it's just the way things are.
If so, where would you take it for its next service & a decently thorough look at please? I live near Camberely in Hampshire. It still has a good warranty on it.
Thank you all. Much appreciated.

I don't know of a pug diesel specialist in your area but i can highly recommend the Derv Doctor www.dervdoctor.co.uk
He specialises in servicing and tuning diesel pugs and VW's and people come from all across the country for his work.

right that's this one back up the top, because I'm sure you wonderful experts must have missed this one.
If there truly is no-one with a clue about this, then I'll let it sink back into obscurity.
Would it help if I offered to put my card behind the bar & get the drinks in for anyone who replies? Not going to get much of a toasting by current standards-so order something outrageous for yourselves!
Thanks for looking.

The 2.2 engine is not that great. It feels slower than its paper figures suggest as the power delivery is quite flat, especially low down. In my experience its also rather thirsty for a diesel, and it needs expensive particle filter maintenance.
Surprised about your comment regarding refinement - I've found the 2.2 to be very smooth and quiet. It has balancer shafts to reduce noise, vibration and harshness but I suspect these sap power and torque and make the engine less free-revving.

2.2 Hdi - smooth and very long legged but the 30mpg when coupled to an auto box has wiped the smile off my face!
