I have a Renault Clio 51 reg and the external temp gauge is showing 39 degrees I wish.
where is the sensor situated so I can give it a clean.
Is it easy to rectify?

I dont know for sure but take a look underneath the passenger side mirror. I think it is a little black protrusion about 10mm long, the diameter of a pencil. Cleaning it wont help. I know when I turned on the heated mirrors on my 'legendary' Espace the outside temp display sometimes became 'optimistic' by a few degrees. Just a thought, its not reading in Fahrenheit is it?!

Do you *need* to know the outside temp? The cost of repairing it may be out of all proportion to that features value.

It is the little black blob under the mirror. Try warming it up or cooling it down to see if the temperature changes, but usually the sensor is kaput.
