On Christmas Eve someone drove into the door mirror on my ancient fiesta(1993 Mk3) taking the mirror clean off.
I've done a quick search and can find a new replacement mirror at reasonable cost but hope to find one even cheaper at a scrap merchant.
I've had a quick look at how it's attached and it seems to be quite straighforward except it looks like the door trim will have to come off to get to some sort of fastener at the bottom, is this correct and is it easy ? not many screws are visible - does it clip on?
I searched the archive but apologies if this sort of query has been covered before

The top of the door trim has to be removed. It's an easy job to do.. 2-3 screws and you're away.. takes about 20 mins first time iirc.

you have to take the door trim off to get to the bottom screw that locates the mirror to the door,as regards a new mirror make sure its oe as the aftermarket ones are not as good in the glass dept,a later mk3 will fit by the way but make sure you get the interior trim bit as these are different for mirror adjustement.
one final thing the door winder handle is held with a spring clip use a towel to grab it and carefully pull it off but be careful as it may fly as it comes off,its located at the back of the handle.

I had to do this job on our old Fiesta - it's straightforward as described. Ours was the black plastic mirror - not colour-matched. Our local scrappie didn't have that type, but was able to get a pattern one for £20. I remember that the bolts had to be tightened cautiously to avoid distorting the plastic mount.

Finally got around to doing this today - replacement mirror was £10 from scrapyard, attached it in under 10 minutes in total - thanks for the advice - Paul
