Thanks again to everyone for their advice after my previous post.

I just have another question; can anybody suggest a good product for cleaning and maintaining the leather seats in my car. At the moment they're all in pretty good condition, and I'd like to keep them that way! (The one thing I'm scared of is applying something that'll make the seats look "shiny", I prefer the more natural look)

I've had a look in Halfords, and have seen various Mer, Turtlewax(with/without glycerin), Autoglym, Meiguar and Halfords cleaners, amongst others. I couldn't really tell the difference between them, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry, I forgot to say that they are beige. (I don't know if it makes any difference)

Thanks again.

In a recent Auto Express Meiguar got the best award
but you would need to read the article as apparently Meiguar make more than one kind

Whatever you get, see if you can smell it first, some such as Gliptone Liquid Leather and Autoglym smell vile as they appear to have stupidly added a fake leather smell that smells of TCP ointment.

Zymol smells delicious, but isn't that great, I will try Mer next if it passes the nose test.

Call me old-fashioned but on leather seats old and modern I always used the stuff made by the manufacturers - Connollys Hide Food - and was always very pleased with the results. I guess you might have to buy it at a harness shop these days though.

In my experience (both our cars have some treatable leather) the slight smell of Autoglym Leather Care disappears in a day or two.

Both Mondeo and MX5 have a tan leather interior and are still blemish free. I always use Armorall leather wipes to remove any marks as soon as they appear and then every 6 months or so a good clean and treatment using Autoglym.

Thank you very much everyone.

I've bought a couple of products (The Meiguar gold thing, and also a "Traditional leather cleaner" from an old fashioned shop in town), and will try them out over the weekend.

Thanks again everyone!

Hi there.
Been reading this thread and wonder how you got on testing the two products you bought?
I also need to get some leather cleaner for my new car so would be interested in yours (and others) feedback.

One thing that was suggested to me was Dainese Leather care kit for bikers leathers but I cannot find any anywhere.

I am going to put this down, as this is what i do to the cream leather in my ja; which apart from a little wear to the drivers bolster and a scratch mark from a child's nail is about as good as new. I clean the leather with a damp nail brush with a cheap hand soap on it, rubbing in circular motions, and then wipe of the excess with a dry cloth. Following this, i use a connoly hide food. I do this once every three years, and the amount of dirt that is lifted off is amazing.
I am probably going to be told how much damage i am doing, but its worked for me, and the leather still is in better nick than a lot of other jags i have driven, so i will probably keep doing it.
