Would anyone like to estimate what my car is worth as a trade in. I know there is a link on the site that you can pay for, but I have used it a couple of times and found it to over estimate like parkers etc.
Details are -
Sep 2003 (53) Mondeo TDCI 130 6 speed estate.
Total milage - 42000 (showing 1700 with replacement cluster)
Full service History
Good overall condition. No dents / scrapes but stone chips on front.
Black metalic.
Thanks

Which model? LX, Zetec etc

One thing that will affect it is the replacement speedo - whilst you have paperwork to back it up a lot of people will be put off by it and this includes the dealer.
If you were to look to trade this in at our dealership all you'd get is an auction value as this is where we would dispose of the vehicle.

Assuming the clock unit was replaced under warranty the dealer shouldchave reprogrammed to the correct mileage so it has no effect on the value.

The way he states its got 1700 on replacement cluster sounds like they haven't adjusted the mileage - this will cause problems when trading it in.

Yes, that is my understanding, therefore he should go back to the dealer because they should have reprogrammed to the correct mileage so it has no effect on the value.

Sorry, It is an LX.

With the replacement speedo you're going to be closer to the bottom price. Maybe worth picking up a copy of Autotrader or Exchange and Mart and finding a local "Mileage correction specialist". Less than £50 may increase the value of your car by more than £1000.

I don't understand.
Mondeo tdci is the answer to everything - why would anyone want to trade one in then ?
|
Thanks for replies.
Yes the speedo does only show (now) 1800 miles. I always thought that changing the mileage on it would be 'clocking' whatever way it goes (up or down). I'll have a word with the dealer because i must admit, I would be a little supicious myself looking at a car showing only a couple of thousand miles. Although the service history backs everything up, everyone knows there are a thousand other Mondeos to choose from.
Mark99 - I actually beleive the Mondeo tdci IS the answer to a lot of things, it really is a great car. I just can't get an 8' x 4' panel in it :(

If the dealer is not willing to adjust the mileage you could always try one of the people who advertise in the back of the exchange and mart or autotrader.
It wouldn't be classed as clocking as you are putting the odometer back to what it should be, this will give you less hassle than explaining what has happened and why the mileage is so low.

Isn't that what I said?

Obviously valuable advice worthy of repeat! ;-0

You get those "invisible post days" as well then? :-)

I agree. Mine is great but I just wished I could get it back from the garage, in working order, so I could enjoy it again. Preferably with all the electrics working.
