1999 Passat 1.9TDi (110) - loss of power - pginbath
Yesterday, as I accelerated up a slip road, all power was lost/dropped off. Engine did not stall/cut out, but nothing happening when pressing throttle. Pulled onto hard shoulder and switched off. Restarted and all was OK!!!! Tried lots to get it to do it again (hard acceleration, etc) but now seems OK. Did have a few odd instances of what seemed like a "miss" a few weeks ago, but that was it. Anyone got any idea what this could have been? Should I get checked out by dealer? Thanx

Get the diagnostics checked.

possible MAF starting to fail ?

Power loss appears to be a common thing on these engines.

Suggest you do a forum search (over to your right) on Audi A4's, Octavia's Golf's and Bora's and Sharan / Galaxy / Alhambra with this engine. There are quite a few cases of it (my Octavia suffered with it).

MAF is the usual first port of call. Also, the car's mileage "may" be relevant (but then again maybe not).

Thanks for the advice. Car has done 95k. Will get diagnostics checked.
