Renault Scenic - Faulty led in clock dis - Rekrab
Hi there,

I've got a 3 1/2 year old Renault Megane Scenic which has developed a small fault.

The dash clock display has suddenly gone dark on the right hand side as if the bulb behind it has blown.

I called Renault, and they advised me that the whole of the Dash board will have to come off to replace this one bulb and it wouldn't be worth the cost to do this.

Any ideas if this is something I could change myself if the dash doesn't have to be removed or am I going to have to bite the bullet with this one?.

I know it's trivial, but the new owner (G/F) wants everything working :o)

Thanks

Get an independent mobile auto electrician in, he will do it for a lot less £££. I would imagine it is a small bulb and not an LED as LED's last a lot longer.

If it is not the bulb, it may be a cracked circuit board.

I know of a good auto electricial nr Chester if that is any good?

Thanks for the reply.

Not sure why I put LED down :o)

Chester wouldn't be too bad at a push. I'm around the Midlands if anyone can recommend anyone local?

Thanks again

I doubt the whole of the dash has to come out, more likely just the dash top which is a peice of cake to remove. undo the screws located at either end of the upper dash(doors open and they are visible)and remove the two speaker grills located each end and to the rear of the dash, and remove the two screws a careful but firm pull upwards and toward you and the whole upper dash section will slide away revealing the clock display held in place with another couple of screws remove turn the clock unit over a a pair of pliers can be used to twist out the old bulb actually very simple, however this can vary with some models so if in doubt dont attempt it youself if you do decide to get a garage to do this for you it should only take about 15 to 20 minutes.
