Hi,
Can anyone comment on ChipsAway outlet in Woking ? They actually call themselves WagenKraft Ltd and are part of ChipsAway franchise network.
I was unfortunate to scratch my car with a gate post at a friend's car park yesterday. It just was too low, so couldn't see it neither through mirrors nor through the back until it was too late. It left a medium sized dent and a few scratches in the fuel filler cap area (just above the bumper). It also left its white paint on the scratches.
It is not too bad, but one scratch near the bumper is down to bear metal. So, I'm concerned about rust setting in. Also, if I could get rid of that white paint. Doesn't look nice at all on a dark green car :-)
As the car is approaching 8th birthday I don't think the resale values matter a lot and I'm also hoping to run it for another couple of years.
Thanks
Kostic

Thanks for the reply
Well, the price is important to me, as the car is not worth too much, so no point spending hundreds for a minor damage.
Anyway, could you give any pointers at the mentioned body shop in Maybury ?
Thanks,

Sure the mods wont mind a personal recomendation. The clio (a three door) got a big parking dent bout 2 inches deep in the rear three quarter, paint cracked.
I checked the car before Mrs RF signed the ok. Lovely job. Cant see where the paints been blended, perfect match (flat blue 4 years old) and the "magic fingers" cant feel it either. I knew the repair was there, and where it should be, but i cant see it.
I had a quick peek in the workshop. Very modern, very clean, low bake ovens, laser jigs, the lot. The parking area was full of bent TT's to be fixed up.

Thanks, RF. That's nearly on my way to work. Will pop in tomorrow and see what they say.
Cheers,

Husband has used ChipsAway twice - no complaints. Think the chap only works there on Fridays.

I had a job done by chipsaway and i was absolutely disgusted.
i have a black mini cooper that i have very well looked after, it is my pride and joy. i had a scratch that needed repairing also the dent filling in, so i booked deleted from chipsaway to do the repair, but to find that her job was a total mess. I took my car for more opinions and every car body shop i took it to said what a disgrace it was, BMW had also told me that she had knocked £1,500 value off my car. She left the paint work and filler ripply with drips and red spots in it, the primer was showing through, the work was dull no shine to it at all, she had melted my rubber seal below my window and also stained my wheel trim. She had got lacker inside my door and also left bare bits of paint where she had not lacquered. She had scratched my window through aggressively sanding without taking care.
BMW had quoted me £804 to repair the mess she had made, that is not including the quote for a new window and a courtesy car for the inconvenience it had caused for my car going into be repaired. I have told chipsaway that if they do not pay to get my car fixed properly then i am taking matters further and also report them to watchdog.
deleted she has ruined my pride and joy, she even admitted that the job was to big for her to do in the first place, so i am so mad that she took the job on knowing she could not do it properly. i have also told her that i do not want her or any of chipsaway re doing my car, there is no chance, so they can pay for it to be repaired by BMW. I paid good money for her to mess my car up - £176.
i would not recommend chipsaway, deleted, I'm just lucky that i had taken photos from before and after, i really couldn't believe she could let the car go back in such a bad state and now to deny any damage, deleted. It makes me feel sick to think they can do such a bad thing to some ones car and think there job is perfect, when actually there is more damage than what there was to start with.

I used a Chips Away outfit in Woking to refurbish an alloy wheel and I wasn't happy with the result.
But this was 5 years ago, and I don't know if it's the same outfit as the current one.
{anotehr edit, for the same reason as above}

I have to say that Chips Away in Benfleet did an absolutely superb job of repairing a 3 foot long scratch on my niece's Renault Megane (also black) after some kind soul decided to key her car all down one side where she had parked it to go to work. It cost her £300 but the work was absolutely superb, I looked at it myself afterwards and, although I knew where the scratch had been, I couldn't see or feel any trace if it whatsoever.
I think the problem with Chips Away and, no doubt, similar operations, is that they are all run as separate franchises, and, as such, some of the operators are very good but others are clearly not so good.
I am very sorry hayleychild that you have had such a bad experience.
