Irritating squeak (Laguna) - johnny

My car has developed a dry irregular squeak that I'm unable to pinpoint, apart from that it's inside the cab, worse on bumpy roads but will also do it while the car's stationary and I keep very still. It sounds metallic rather than plastic (ie dashboard), the only possible place i can think of inside the seat. Worse still, my wife completely fails to acknowledge its existence, but it's doing my head in. Any more ideas before I fill the car with WD40?
