I've no idea what my Mondeo tyre pressures should be so i always bung 30psi in them regardless of weight carried etc.
Never had any adverse wear to them or noticable difference in ride so just how critical do tyre pressures need to be?
Seems that 30psi is the ballpark figure so who and why works out that for example some should be 29 or 31?

A friend of mine used to be a Michelin rep; he once told me that tyre pressures were not absolutely critical to a pound or so either way, but that the ratio back to front was important.
In other words, if the front tyres have a higher pressure than the rears or vice versa, to stick to that ratio.

It could be an issue if you fully loaded the car with lots of people and their luggage and then blasted down the motorway.
The extra flxing of the tyre sidewall could cause it to overheat and blowout.

I can't think of a good reason for not sticking to the tyre pressures recommended by the car manufacturer and usually found on a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler cap flap. Depart from them and you're asking for trouble sooner or later.
