SWMBO is buying a new VW. Dealer is offering a coating for the paintwork - diamond coat or something similar. Says it will protect the paint. The price is £200.
Does it work?

Regarding Diamondbrite:

Also several more views found using the forum search.
But bottom line is that most people on here think it's a waste of money.

If your the sort of person who doesn't wash the car much then it could be a good idea BUT make sure you haggle the price down - the kit we use costs about fifty quid.

if you really want diamondbrite or such like...look on ebay and buy it for £10 or so..closer to its real value and keep the ££££ for something else
those kind of products are just a good coat of wax, if you read the blurb it will tell you bird mess needs cleaning of straight away and the coating needs redoing every once in a while
so why not just wash your car once a week like most people and wax 2-4 times a year with quality wax polish

I have it on my car but wouldn't pay dealership prices or even trust them to apply it properly. Bought it off ebay for about 20 quid which included the fabric protector and "aftercare kit". Took me a few hours to apply by hand and it does make a difference to the paintwork. The advantage for me as that my paintwork is now easy to maintain in a 'polished' condition. I do not need to wax the car now. I just use the diamondbrite shampoo to wash the car regularly and apply the conditioner once a month. The conditioner is just put on as an extra wash (not applied like polish), then rinsed and lathered down.
All well worth 20 quid I paid, but no way is it worth the rediculous dealership prices. Do the Diamondbrite yourself or just stick to ordinary wax is my advice.

I had lifeshine put on my new touran, mainly so the seats got scotchgarded.
Rain reppelant on the glass appears to keep them cleaner, and the body work is nice and shiny. Is the treatment worth £200, probably not. Would I have had time to do it my self with a £20 ebay kit, again probably not

I had Diamond Bright as a no cost extra, one thing I have noticed that is an improvement over my normal Autoglym shampoo is that there is no residue left on the glass after using the conditioner. ndbw
