Re-setting Service Indicator BMW - jag_driver
Hi I am intending to get my BMW 5 series 2000 V serviced at an independent garage - is it possible to reset the service indicator yourself? I have a friend with a 1999 Mercedes C-class who reset the service light by pushing the trip computer button in a certain series of ways.

I'm sure you can use the tool bought for about £15, copy and paste link below into your browser..

Save your £15, you can reset it with a piece of wire. You need to jump/bridge/short (don't know what you call it in the UK) two terminals in the diagnostic port. As has been mentioned there are lots of websites with pictures/diagrams showing you how to do it, and they work, reset mine twice now.

Had a quick look and found this page. Can't get it much simpler than that. The page mentions building a special jump with with resistors etc, and I suppose that would be safer, but I just used one of the leads from my multimeter tester.
