Thanks Adski, I hoped they were OK as the rest of the car is a beaut. All I know is Mitchelin and Dunlop; sad.

If you were a motorcyclist you would probably of heard of Yokohama tyres. On bikes they can be life-threatening, and my experience of Japanese car tyres in general, of which threre are a few brands, isnt very good.
The trouble is, whilst they may last 'forever' this is due to the hard/cheap compounds used which dont work very well when its raining !

Whoops - sorry. Just shows why you shoudn't listen to me!
I've known the name for years but never driven a car sitting on them so I am sorry.

Thank you Roly93, nothing like a bit of scary stuff to bring a man down to earth, I'll keep an eye on the tyres.
I was once a motorcycle fanatic; BSA350 and Douglas Dragonfly, I also had a half share in a monster(in all senses of the word) called an Ariel square4 But I succumbed to domesticity, and a Singer 9HP. Ghastly.

Yokohama make a range of tyres. I've never used any myself, but the A539's and AVS ranges seem to be well regarded. Toyo's are another Japanese brand. I've had them on a car and thought they were actually very good. The Toyo Proxies seem well regarded by the 'fast and furious' brigade. Worst tyres I ever drove on have been Firestones (fitted new on a VW!) and some old Hankook's that had poor wet grip. Other than those I've never really been disappointed by a tyre.
