I have an oil leak from the area of the top of the oil filter housing it does not seem to be the oil pressure switch anyone had this problem and is it expensive to cure

Yes, if the TDi is the same filter arrangement as the 2.0-16 petrol. Does yours have an oil cooler between the filter and bracket? Is the leak between the bracket and the engine block? What engine code is yours?

Thanks for the reply I would say it hasnt an oil cooler the engine no is 1z279139 ,is this the code no?it is an 9 year old car which I am selling so any expensive bills it would be cheaper scrapping it(without the oil leak its worth £800?)

The oil filter sits on a bracket (cast aluminium). The bracket is bolted on to the engine block with three M8 allen head screws. The replacement gasket is part no. 8A-M-360-000 - costs a couple of quid. Looks easy enough, however, you'd need to drain and refill the oil. The filter is accessible by removing the engine under-tray - it's sited at the NS front of the engine.
Sorry, I meant engine code e.g. 1Y, PM, DZ, etc. For example, my old 80-16V was ACE.
