filter - Peugeot 206 Diesel - tomandjerry56

i have a peugeot 206 diesel v reg and iside the engine compartment near the raditor there is a pipe with a sought of box hanging from it was wondering if any one knows what it is called as my one has broken away so whebn the engine is runnig it seems to have got lowder since it has broken hope some one can help

I think you will have to be a bit more accurate with the description, this could be anything. Which side is it on? Is it totally disconnected from everything?
If the engine is much louder, like a tractor, it could be the exhaust broken.
If it isn't much louder it may be the air inlet trunking broken and you can hear the engine drawing in air.

Is the exhaust on the front?.ie crossflow and does it have oxygen sensor..It may be sensor broken off..Just a thought and may be wrong??

i think it is a noise reducer on the front of the engine it comes from the engine and goes into i think a air filter
