Can anyone offer advice on wishbone problems for an A4? I have heard a creaking as per a noted fault on the Honest John review, but am not sure exactly where it is coming from. Are there any other tests I could do to check for this? Also, how would the problem manifest itself and is it potentially dangerous?
Thanks

front suspension arms on A4's are problematic, but audi has issued a recall recentyl.
have a look at the arms, its common for the bushes to push out of the arms, you will know what I mean if you see it. also the balljoints go. I have encountered it as a knocking / thumping on light braking - thought there was a problem with the caliper - turned out to be the arms.
upper and lower arms go - the uppers are a pig to do - theres a bolt that doesnt want to come out and you need to be carefull not to damage the strut

Thanks Mark
I have had the car in on this recall and the bearing arm bushes were replaced. But the creaking noise is still there. Any other thoughts?

There are a few bushes and balljoints that can creak. Get it up in the ramp, move the suspension a bit and listen with a mechanics stethoscope. That's the way to do it.

Thanks Aprilia, will do. Is it likely to be dangerous to drive?
