Hiya, got to fit some new sills onto my 1992 mini. Does anyone know of any way I can help to preserve them so its a good few years before I must replace them again?
Also got to replace one of the front wings at sometime in the near future, so the same applies to that too.
I have heard about rust inhibitors (think thats the right word) but not a clue what to do with them, best ones to choose etc.
Thanks

Frost Auto Restorations sell just about everything you could ever need to restore & preserve a car. Here is just one page www.frost.co.uk/result_search.asp
Dinatrol rust proofers seem to come out best in most tests.

Sorry can't seem to link to a specific page but just go to www.frost.co.uk/ and type in rust in the search box.

A relatively simple job, which you could do yourself, is to fill the internals of the sill with a wax-based product. You can purchase items such as Waxoyl in a spray can it is a job that would cost minimal money.
It is best to take your time with a job like this you could also spray oil inside the sill area with the wax this will guarantee good circulation and maximum coverage. It is worthwhile to do the whole car rather than just the sills.
