Hi
my picasso has no internal heat ....the matrix is cold,
when the engine has been running for 15 mins i get the radiator cooling fans come on with two blips on the temp display gauge and then 2 mins later the dashbord display tells me to switch off because the engine is overtemp when all blips on the gauge are lit...at this point the top hose to the rad is solid and hot but the bottom is cold...
i do not appear to be losing water
i have been to a couple of citroen "experts" who have put their diagnostics on it and they tell me there is no electrical fault being logged....
any ideas guys ?

Sounds like an air lock to me.
Has the car had it's coolant changed recently?
I'd visit a good garage and explain which parts are cold. Do not drive more than necessary so you don't cause the engine to overheat and the head warp.

Assuming it used to be alright and everything worked and the stat is OK then I suspect the head gasket is weeping combusion fumes into the water was thus the air if the heater matrix and the reck solid hoses. When the engine is hot carefully release the header tank pressure. Be CAREFULL xxxxxx hot. The replace cap and run for 2 mins then relase cap agin there should be no pressure is there is then air is being added. Bad news I'm afraid. Regards Peter.

Peter D is correct. You have combustion gasses pressurising the cooling system. Take my advice and *do not drive the car* - in fact, *don't run the engine again*. Get it trailered to a garage and get them to pull the head. If you run the car you risk warping/cracking the head, blowing water pump seals etc.
