Boys Toys - Porsche 944 - Leon on Derv
A friend is selling a 1987 Porsche 944 (series 2) due the the fact his license has been revoked for medical reasons after a motorcycle accident. He has offered me first refusal on this motor which I know has been well maintained and has not been modified in any way.

Any pointers regards what to look out for - mechanicals / electrical probs? I plan to use this motor only for a bit of fun and fair weather runs. There are 60K miles (ish) on it, and like I said she's in perfect order.

Off to check out classic insurance.... This should be interesting.....

Advice as always, would be much appreciated.

Borrow or buy a copy of The Porsche 924/944 Book by Peter Morgan(Haynes)- this will tell you most things. The Hartech website (Porsche specialists) is also very useful. Bear in mind that 944 prices seem to be slipping - look at ebay for an idea of its value.
Great car - buy it if the price is right

There is likely to be plenty of advice forthcoming from the 944 register at:
