Peugeot 406 Brake lights - Alan Fed Up
The two main brake lights on my 406 have stopped working. I have checked all the fuses which are intact and the brake switch is ok. The high level third brake light still works so I am at a loss as to the cause of this. Can you shed any light on this please as I tearing my hair out in great lumps.

Cheers

Have you tried the obvious solution of changing the light bulbs? (That's not meant to be patronising as it might sound, but they might both have gone at the same time. Indeed, you may have been running around with only one for some time.)

Failing that, get out your resistance meter (circuit tester) and see if you can get a connection between the high level & the other two.

ive checked both bulbs and the filaments are intact but I suppose it wont hurt to stick two new bulbs in. I'll give it a go, at the worst I'll have two spare bulbs.

Sometimes a filament looks intact, but it is the bulb that's gone. Usually on my cars this is accompanied by the bulb having a black appearance.
