Hi everyone,
I have a Seat Alhambra V\'99 model.I park my car away from the house in car parking bay, often out for sight of my house.I have had my car SCRATCHED many times by the LOCAL SCUM BAGS for no reason at all.I\'m after a system that I could use within the car which runs on 12v.It would be good if the cctv camera were infa red/low light, montion detected say 4 meter range, records to video/hard drive and cover 360 degess so may be more than one camera to be used.
I have looked at endless web sites with on real luck.I open this up to you all as the POLICE said if you got them on tape they are NICKED.....
Thank you,
Nick Beckwith

Even if you do catch them on tape, at the end of the day they will most likely get off with a caution.

If you can get a low end PC which is quiet and low wattage so you can leav it on 24/7, then you can get a 4 channel DVR card off ebay for about £30, and the software with it. You could then put a few wireless cameras in the car. and they will send back the signals to your house if it\'s within range.
Trouble is those cheap £20-£50 cameras are rubbish at night, including the ones with IR LEDs, you need a proper one with a proper C mount lense which works as well at night as in the day, otherwise its money down the drain.
If you use a proper camera, you can get some that run on 802.11b wireless networking (or whatever code it is)
or
a pair of small AV transmitter /reciever for about £30, which you can plug into the camera and the computer in your house. that use the 2.4GHZ bandwidth used by cordless phones etc...
There\'s no easy or chap solution that would be good enough to identify someone. It\'s no good spending money on domestic rubbish, and playing at back and saying, oh yes, someone did scratch the car, can\'t really tell who though.

Plus you would need to be careful about the film as evidence, as the defence could challenge it as inadmissable as it could be tampered with.
What you want (360 degree coverage, 10 hours at night, from inside the car, high quality) is really not practical at limited cost. Sure it can be done, but expensive.
A more practical solution is park it somewhere where it wont ght easily scratched or can be monitored from a single camera.

Or run an older car. You'll save yourself a lot of worry & money too.
