Need to replace the NCT5's on my Beetle soon, but looking for a better tyre in their place.
Although good wear (got 60k out of the whole set, with a front/rear rotation a while back), the main problems with the Goodyears are excessive road noise (a problem I remember from Michelin Energy tyres, too). The new ones need good grip all year (not just summer - go skiing every year), too.
Anyone tried the Continental Sport Contact 2 ?

Goodyear Eagle Venturas have come out top dog in the wet in many tests. They use similar technology to their F1s, for which i can vouch personally.

Eagle Ventura is a good, reasonably-priced tyre, but actually an older design than the NCT5 (by a couple of years).
The NCT5 was recently voted as a 'best buy' in a Europe-wide consumers association group test - it should not be a noisy tyre (are you sure its not the car, and you're blaming the tyre).
I have Conti Sport 2 on a car - they are fine - but I wouldn't hink quieter than the NCT5.

My money stays with the Ventura (I actually have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D2 in 215/45/17, but my bro has Venturas on his Accord - he's very pleased with them).
