Paint touch up advice - Paul N
Unfortuately some ejit has hit my car when its been in a car park and as a result theres a couple of 3 inch square patches where the paint has practically come off (Thunder Grey Celica 190). Ive sanded the worst of the red paint from the other car off but Im wondering whats the best way to get it touched up and looking new. I tried T-Cutting a car with metallic paint once before and made a right hash of it and the touch up pencils you can get from Toyota would not leave a good finish as the area is too big ?

Its also left the paintwork uneven in some places ..(i.e some is scuffed, some the metallic lacquer has come off etc )and Id rather get it done properly on me pride and joy

Would a dealership touch it up for me? Or are there specialist garages? Ive got the little tin of mathcing paint that came with the car when I bought it? Can someone suggest any better alternatives? You have to look to see where the scuffs are but you know how when its your own car and you know its there and you cant stand it !

What I dont want to do is have a go myself ( I was never very good at art at school ) and make it worse

Thanks for the reply but ...

Do they not do plant hire vehicles and will they do a simple touch up job for a private car ?
Re: Paint touch up advice - Andrew Moorey (Tune-Up Ltd.)
No, the paint technic people near me do only cars, either privately or for car dealers.

Andrew

Do you have any contact details for them.I cant see any links on the web ?
Re: Paint touch up advice - pipmeldrew
Paul, where abouts in the UK are you? The damage sounds a bit too much to get away with a SMART repair. Chipsaway will do the panel for you but will probably charge you more than a bodyshop. If you post your area I will be pleased to see if I can point you in the direction of one of our approved static sites.

I watched a Guy respraying scuffs and scratches on the local Saab forecourt. I was so impressed I asked for his card. The franchise is Spray Away. Based in Kent his number is 07956 995079
