Got a Peugeot 406 1.9 diesel which had a slight prang yesterday. Not hard enough to set the air bags off, damage is only cosmetic toi the front end. The problem is, it won't start! When I try to enter the imobiliser start code, normally red LED is on until correct code is entered, then the green LED comes on. But now, both LEDs are on.
Is there something that has detected the impact and imobilised the engine, that can be reset?
Many thanks, for any help.

Yes there is an impact switch which shuts down the fuel system often found under the bonnet a red rubber type covered push to reset button. If that does not fix the prob the ECU may keep the system shut down until the airbags are reset but I'm not sure about that. Regards Peter

TBH I have never known a pug diesel before the '07' range to have this auto kill switch. My guess would be the loom plug has became dislodged/damaged on impact as it is low down level to bumper and at the front so in the main impact area.

Peugeot started to fit the fuel cut-off switches to diesels at least 5 years ago. I used to work for the co that made them til they decided to move production overseas :-(( More UK manufacturing jobs lost for ever.

Would agree with peter diesels will carry on working if fuel not shut off.an accident with such a switch will prevent fuel reaching the engine so making it shut off.they unlike petrols will carry on running and can do without the aid of diesel.or at least it could be the case.

Thanks guys,
I found the inertia switch which had tripped. It runs fine now.
It seems the radiator not go undamaged.Long shot, afriend has a good one from a petrol 306, will it fit?
I know what you're thinking, compare the two, but he is a long way off, and not havinga car....
Thanks again,
