Has anyone out there had problems with scrotes stealing metal valve caps from their cars?. I lost all 4 from mine whilst it was parked in London for a few hours. So I replaced them, only to have them all nicked again. This time my car was parked in Bedford. On the grapevine I have been told that kids are swapping valve covers at school. Anyone else heard of this?????

Try putting some cheap plastic ones on next time. Scrounge around the air pump at petrol stations, I usually get mine there

can I have mine back please?

\"can I have mine back please?\"
No, but I know where you can get some posh metal ones if you live in the Beford or London area.

Buy some which have the little grub screw in them. Bit of a pain when you check tyre pressures but at least they stop opportunist scroates stealing them.

Funny you should say that....

Yep - it happens here in Spain, too. I bought four of the pressure loss indicating tyre caps and they were nicked in our private car park under the building. I\'d kept the old plastic ones so I put them back, only to find ONE nicked again while in our \"secure\" car park! Must be fellow residents which is upsetting.

if you hire a car absolutly none of them have caps, very time consuming removing and replacing them when checking the tyre pressures before each rental apparently.

My secondary source of free valve caps has just been rumbled.

The only time I\'ve tried metal caps was in the 60\'s and I used aircraft tyre valve caps (painted yellow, and no, I didn\'t nick them off parked aircraft!) which had a rubber seal. Very stylish and very effective in keeping the air in. Unfortunately the extra mass caused the valve stem to bend radially outward until the cap touched the wheel, and this wore the paint off the wheel. Doesn\'t this tend to happen with car caps?

'Doesn't this tend to happen with car caps?'
So what were you putting your metal caps onto then?
