Vauxhall Oils. - AZ
Just as a matter of interest,who actually makes Vauxhall oils,and is it the same oil that they use at the factory.

I remember that HJ recommended vauxhall oils. From memory (and I may be wrong) they are simply texaco oils, which means thay are excellent oils at very low prices.

I'm sure I've read somewhere on the 'net recently that they are basically Shell Helix.

Vauxhall Oils. - Sooty Tailpipes
The workshop and factory bulk oils are (I'm reliably informed) are Shell Helix G (G being a GM specification) The Retail packaged oils are exactly like the Delphi (also owned by GM) oils

bar the logo, and both are made in Belgium, so find who makes one and that will be the other too.

Cant really comment on who makes Vauxhall oils, but when I did 2 weeks work experience in 1999, at a local Vauxhall main agent, the oil that was used (in both diesel and petrol models) was a Mobil product. New barrels that were delivered had Mobil written across the front. The garage also sold genuine Vauxhall lubricants (in a Vauxhall bottle) in the service reception area.

So it appeared as if the service reception sold different oils to what the garage bays were using during oil changes. But as I say, this was a while ago now, so things may have long since changed.

Usually dealers bulk buy oil cheaply from any of the main companies (Esso/Shell/Mobil/Castrol etc) for servicing, then in their glossy showroom sell the manufacturer badged oil. My local VW and Toyota dealers use Esso Ultra, the Subaru dealer Castrol Magnatec, so no consistency but as long as they meet the required manufacturers spec shouldn't be a problem.

Incidentally my local motor factors sell 5 litres of Vauxhall 10W40 semi-synthetic oil for £9 inc VAT, and 5l of 15W40 mineral oil for £7 - excellent value.
