Ok - and how many illegally driving British subjects do they catch per hour? Who wrote this? The NF press office?
i agree, this will turn into a racist anti asylum seeker bashing thread.
it should be removed.

It was in all the daily papers last week. Like it or not this is a very serious epidemic, and if you knew someone who had been killed by them (I do) and had been hit in your own car by one, (I have) you'd not be so weak minded and reactionary....Why do you consider this problem to be exempt from criticism or debate?

It was in all the daily papers last week. if you knew someone who had been killed by them (I do) >>
in the papers? you really believe everything you read?
the right wing national press in this country have a crusade to whip up asylum seeker hatred at the present time.
there must be countless cases of this kind over the years committed by 'white english people' but they are mainly unreported or not reported in the same way, or make headline national news.
its because its committed by a so called asylum seeker that the story is hi-jacked and turned into racism.
if someone commits these sort of offences they should be punished whether they are english or eastern european or whatever.
and they are not "them" either

But that doesn't mean the issues raised such as should people be allowed to drive on foreign licenses here for a year? When the countries they come from have very different driving laws and environments?
This is so not safe! Especially now the roads are so complicated and busy. Globalism is creating terrible problems, including on the roads., where people who are effectively non-persons slip through the system as they only exist physically, not in databases, and they can slip in and out of identities as I slip in and out of clothes. Most of the time a blind eye is turned because of people with attitudes like yours.

OK OK Let's all calm down a minute! There is a serious issue here and the reason why it persists is because it is always embroiled with racism claims!
I think this thread should stay firmly where it is!
These people are not being targeted because of colour or race or creed. They are part of a growing menace in our society that also includes pond life from our own country.
The system makes it easier for people from another country to evade justice, whether they be here legally or illegally, whether they may be white amarican or australian, South African (black or white), Indian, greek, french, german, israili....
For heavens sake lets all grow up and see and tackle the problem for what it is!!!
I find racism abhorrent, but what I find even more disturbing is the political correctness that exists to provide a barrier to the real solutions.
People are dying on our roads every day as a result of the ignorence peddled by these so called do gooders!
Having served as a Special Constable in Leicestershire, we were taught that forein nationals suspected of a crime or even a motoring offence sometimes need to be treated differently due to the fact that they simply have no fixed abode in the UK. This includes ANYONE who does not live over here regardless of colour or creed.
Read, re read and reply with an INFORMED opinion please!

I think it is a perfectly valid point ST is making. While it is not exactly an exclusive problem with asylum seekers, it is disproportionately high and illustrates an undesirable mindset.
To try and label any such discussion 'racist' and therefore to be banned is pathetic PC at its worst.

The truth is that people on both extremes of the political spectrum hijack stories like this either to stir up racial hatred or (equally wrong IMO) prevent legitimate debate of what are important issues and serious problems. It is neither wrong or racist to raise issues like these unless one's premise is that it is only asylum seekers who cause such problems. We all know that is not the case and many incidents involving white UK citizens are reported widely with equal condemnation. One reason why many deluded people now vote for extremists like the BNP is that there appears to be no other forum through which to raise their concerns. Only when we can have a sensible debate about this subject will the likes of the BNP be exposed for what they are. Until then their support will only grow and we all suffer because of it.

This is a serious problem.
What is more serious is that there is always someone ready to defend the culprit once an issue of race, etc. (or in this case illegal immigrants) becomes apparent.
Blindly defending an asylum seeker because they are an asylum seeker is as bad as attacking someone solely because of their race.
It is a lot more pathetic though, it is a passive reaction due to weakness.
I have travelled past the point on the A5 where the young woman was killed recently, many times.
I pass numerous cars while stuck in traffic in London and notice the lack of a valid tax disc on many. The majority are not being driven by what would appear to be British citizens or citizens of a Western European country. That's not racist, it's an observation.
Like I said, this is a serious problem.

I can confirm that the issue of illegal immigrant drivers is a very serious problem of epedemic proportions. I work for an East Midlands Police force as an Enforcement Officer and part of my job is to track down and report speeders who evade the fixed penalty process and virtually all the chronic offenders are immigrants who are either applying for asylum or who are illegals who have failed the process and are on the run. In one instance one offender has triggered cams 28 times.. they almost never have tax insurance or an mot, many have violent records of assualt police, carry knives or pocket pistols, regularly move address to avoid detection nationalities vary but Bulgarians, Albanians, Iraquis ansd Iranians are common, frankly the Eastern bloccers are the worst since they often have drug connections and are involved in pimping. The courts are uselss because they grant bail abd the offenders simply dissapear never to be seen in the area again. They have m#dozens of alliases and fake or forged papers if any at all. around one city area virtually no cars are taxed motd or insured and offenders dont even have a driving licence in their country of origin let allone a UK one.

Why is it that when anyone wishing to discuss the important subject of asylum is immeadiately shouted down for being "racist"?. It is this kind of inverted racism and intolerance that fuels racist views and support for suspect organisations like the bnp.
The issue is that a disproportionately high proportion of asylum seekers seem to be driving illegally with possible dangerous consequences - so will anything be done about this? ..probably not..
We will get the inevitable 'smokescreen' caused by the powerful PC lobby, the police will be powerless for fear of being branded "racist" so that the real issue will never be tackled... which will only serve to cause resentment and frustration.
|
The reason is simple.
Last year there were only 80,000 odd asylum requests, of which 2/3 were made outside the UK, consequently there are only say 30,000 asylum seekers entering the UK each year, see the ONS website for more details.
The tone of the comments and 'feigned outrage' is not directed at the many times more people who are driving illegally but of WASP origins.
You are far more likely to be hit by a white illegal driver than an asylum seeker.
Hence the view that certain posters are undoubtedly racist, a trawl back through their continual posts of 'moral indignation' on all such topics simply proves the point IMHO.

When one sees what Labour has done/is doing to the UK, one wonders if the BNP can be regarded as extreme, and I include the killings of thousands of ethnic minorities in my deliberations.
|
|
I think what "inverted racists" probably object to is the implying of a causal relationship between race and behaviour. If the comments are not meant to imply that, then why make them?
It seems likely to me that a lot of poor people are likely to drive illegally. I imagine a higher than average proportion of "asylum seekers" are poor; they would probably prefer to have decent jobs and nice cars with tax and insurance.
Of course all illegal drivers should be caught and punished. I am a hanger and flogger as far as tax dodging and driving without insurance are concerned - I reckon it cost me over £1000 after I was run into by an uninsured, untaxed, un-MOT'd driver who didn't stop (when the police eventually interviewed the driver she denied she had been driving it and had lent it on that occasion to a Scotsman whose name she had forgotten and whose address she did not know.) Guess what it cost her?
Until the cost of not having insurance etc exceeds the cost of having it, there will be endemic offending on a massive scale. I read recently, as you probably did, that 36% of young male drivers are uninsured. I dare say they outnumber the asylum seekers...

The subject of this thread was covered by Trevor McDonald's Tonight programme the other week. A figure of over one million illegally owned vehicles was quoted in respect of the UK.
Illegal in the context of the programme was not registered to the keeper of the vehicle, being used by non-entitiled persons, taken without consent, not insured, taxed etc.
That is a lot of law breaking individuals, and personally I dont care if they are immigrants or UK citizens. The law should deal with them equally harshly.
not wishing to be drawn into the asylum issue, however, one individual who was prosecuted for killing a child crossing a road whilst driving an "illegal" vehicle recieved a stiffer sentance for having a false passport than for causing death by dangerous driving and driving illegally.
Justice - I think not.....
