Having owned my new Jazz for just over 2 weeks it received it's first scratch today (sob...). It was caused by the screw on the registration plate of my mums Galaxy pressing against the front bumper of my Jazz when they were parked in the garage.
Although most of the paint only looks crushed there is a small (minute) patch where it may have gone deeper.
Question:
1) Should I just leave it as it is or dab some touch up paint over it (to protect from the elements) then wait until I inevitably get more scratches over the course of months/years before getting it professionally resprayed?
2)Could someone also tell me the point of body coloured bumpers??? Yes they look pretty but one slight knock and they quickly start to look naff
3)Does this post make sense??!
Ta muchly!
Fill what's empty, empty what's full and scratch where it itches!

I would be inclined to leave well alone if it's only a small mark.
It's too easy to make small blemishes more noticeable by adding touch-up paint.
Colour coded bumpers are very nice to look at but highly impractical unfortunately. You have to make sure you're conscious of how easy damage can be caused, unfortunately you've learned the hard way!
If this parking arrangement is a regular feature, why not invest in some white number plate screw caps for your ma's Galaxy front number plate. These are readily available from any motor accessory shop and will prevent the screws from causing any more damage.
Regards,
PP

Jane - if your car has a typical bumper it will be plastic, so the only reason to touch it up is cosmetic, as it won't rust. If you don't notice the blemish from ten feet away, don't bother.
Point of coloured bumpers - you have answered your own Q. One reason is so that your neighbours can tell that you can afford more than the bog-standard model. Thing is - do you want them to know that you can't afford to have it repaired professionally? :o)
3 - yes.

Thanks for the replies....will leave scratch well alone and convince myself it gives Jazz a bit of uniqueness!! ;0)
With regard to coloured bumpers...just another money making scheme by car manufacturers?
Fill what's empty, empty what's full and scratch where it itches!
