A question about my ZX (and I suspect Citroen / Peugeot in general).
I have Girling discs fitted alround.
One problem -
The bleed screws on the calipers rust like crazy! In two years they are seized solid and snap off when you try to bleed them. Even with the manufacturers cap on!
Does anyone have a remedy for this? What do Citroen / Peugeot do?
My first thought is to get a small balloon, pack it with grease and then tightly bind it over the bleed nozzle.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

I cover all screws like those with Dinitrol, an oil based rust prevention compound. Better than Waxoil (more penetrating)and does not set as hard.. so easy to undo. A spray can costs around £5-£6..and lasts years..

I look after loads of these cars and find the bleed screws never snap off or seize if you do actually change the fluid two yearly...hence the nipples never get a chance to stick in.
However on any car where the nipples are left for years and years it can be a problem.
Use Dinitrol, waxoyl or copper grease to try and keep water out of the threads by all means...I do.
But I bet your problem is that you are overtightening the nipples when you replace them. They only need to grip and then a little more.

If you find that they are hard to shift, before snapping them off, try plenty of penetrating oil and a gentle rocking motion to help free them.
You may also consider it appropriate to replace them on a regular basis.

The caliper was 2 years old! I know because I changed it new two years ago when I did exactly the same thing! And the car had been to a Citroen dealer regularly for servicing up to then.
I soaked the nut in WD40 for 15 minutes before attempting to shift it.

Your local garage would probably use oxy-acetylene and a welding torch with a small nozzle to get the nipple red hot quickly, perhaps even running cold water onto the caliper to keep it cool so as not to effect the seals. Apply plus gas as soon as it cools (will flare up if applied when hot)
Not always successful though, and a new caliper is often required. I am trying to free off a Yamaha one at present,as you just can't get a replacement.
Could I suggest the most common cause is overtightening? Have a look a the tightening torque recommended, and is is usually only a couple of lbft

Plusgas is a much better penetrator than WD40.

Hitting the screws end-on with a hammer often frees them.
