Just read "Used Car Buyer" this month.

There's a familiar face there too. Same face as we can see to our upper left!

What's HJ doing there? He gets about a bit.

Anyway, the article just above HJ's is telling us about Renault's Vel Satis, which looks to be for the chop.

Comments about the New Megane being styled the way it is so that the Avantime and Vel Satis don't look quite so peculiar, and now one's gone and the other's to follow, what's the point?

Hardly surprising,has anyone in the UK bought a new one that was not connected with Renault in any way?Not even the French or Belgians will buy them,prefering to buy the usual suspects from Germany.

We're all very good at knocking our own UK companies when they get it wrong but I wonder if the French are as critical about the antics of Renault and how much money has been wasted on these models. Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it, I just wonder what the French tend to think. Perhaps one of our Gallic contributors could shed some light.

Methinks, if you open the boot lid of a Megane, you're likely to see a very large bum sticking out! :-) I keep having this bizarre idea that the car has been built around the driver......After all, cars are like dogs - they look like their owners.

I understand that they're stopping making it due to the car being made at the Matra factory in france, but that this factory is now shutting due to Matra's problems.

They have halted production of the Avantime - I haven't heard anything about them halting production of the Vel Satis.

The Avantime was spun off the Espace but the Vel Satis was a more major investment and I think it unlikely they'll stop production of those.

The Vel Satis is not produced at Matra but the main factories along side the New Espace !.
The Avantime was made by Matra as was the old Espace, who have closed the factory hence these vehicles no longer being produced.
