Vauxhall Astra 1.6 1999. It has been suggested that I have water in the oil. On inspection there is a coating of a baileys coloured liquid when engine oil cap removed. Engine is also making funny noises. Help what is it, what should I do?

Hi
How much is the car used
and how many miles do you drive when it is used does it get regular runs that are faster than lets say 50mph

It's probably emulsified water in the oil making its presence felt in the coolest part of the engine....
Suggest an oil change/oil flush together with a new filter - and a decent run a week to get the engine nice and hot to enable it to get rid of this contaminant

If you do flush the 'baileys/mayonaise' out remember to check the oil/water again regularly as this could be the first signs of a leaking head gasket (i.e. water getting from cooling channels to oil bearing channels)!

Are you sure your engine is reaching operating temperature - i.e. thermostat OK?

Sounds like cylinder head gasket admitting what it shouldn't to the engine oil
