Suzuki Grand Vitara 2009 - Clutch master/slave cyliners - mss1tw

Getting harder to put into first and biting point seems to be lower. First has always been tricky, I found that slightly engaging third first seems to "line things up" and it goes in easier.

In your experience is one more prone to failure? I'm hoping master cylinder as slave is a gearbox out job. (Any idea of price from trading mechanics would be handy)

The only slightly strange thing is it seems to be intermittent. I lost all gear selection for 30 seconds yesterday while turning in the road, but it's fine (Well no worse than normal) today. Is this even possible?

Fluid is clear, and just below maximum.

Cheers chaps

Difficult gear engagement is more likely to be a clutch issue . Certainly get the hydraulics checked out first .

Now my reply to elekie has disappeared!

Edit: Nope, it reappears as I post again.

It looks like a reply has been deleted? (as per general thread)

Please re-post, whoever you were!

Edit: It appeared after I replied.

Thanks elekky - when you say clutch issue, what component do you mean?

I am familiar with the basics like clutch slip caused by worn friction plate

Usually weak fingers on the pressure plate that causes the centre friction plate to not disengage adequately. Causes drag on the transmission and difficult gear selection.
