Suzuki SX4 - Intermittent misfires. - TrevL

I would appreciate any comments from the experts on this site about a minor issue I have on my Suzuki SX4 1.6. The problem is intermittent misfires on C 3 (fault code 0303). I initially thought it was the coil pack as there was a similar issue some time ago on one of the others that was fixed by a new pack. The issue occurs at irregular intervals and often just causes the engine warning light to flicker but not go firm, 0303 is there when I put the scanner on. The only way I can create the issue (sometimes!) is to try to accelerate in 5th on a gradient that gives uneven running for a short time. It could be a plug/lead issue I expect and I’ll see my excellent local mechanic in the next couple of days and no doubt he’ll have some ideas but I thought some of the gurus on here may have seen a similar issue. Many thanks. T

Is this running 2 coils with 2 ht outputs per coil?

Thanks for your response, yes two coil packs.

This uses a wasted spark system where it fires 2 cylinders at once. Your misfire could be one of the ht leads . Probably best to change both.

Thanks very much for advice. I'm taking the vehicle to my local mechanic tomorrow and I'm sure he will appreciate the comments, like a lot of local specialists he has a network of contacts who share knowledge so a pointer is always welcome. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks, T.

elekie&a/c doctor, Update. Took the vehicle to my mate the mechanic this morning and his plan was to look where you suggested,he did and confirmed HT lead issues, he is going to replace all four whilst he is on the job. Thanks again for your prompt assistance. Rgds, T.

elekie&a/c doctor, Thanks again for your help, just to confirm final outcome, both HT leads replaced, and new plugs that should probably have been changed a while ago, and all now OK. T.
