59 plate ford focus - Roof Bars fixing point issues/problem - rossi_mac

Hi

So bought an exidus roof box and aero bars good to go!

First problme not enough bolts supplied but found replacement in shed so all okay. Next I go to the car to prepare the fixing points. I clean the area and take off all the blanking plates and then begin to expose the blank screws. THe first one I got to the screw head wore down afte rabout two turns, I stopped as I didn't want to mess them up, the next three were fine dug out the mastic and unscrewed the little screws, one needed a bit of help from thin pliers to get out but no issues with screw head wearing. SO I fitted rear bar no problem. Then I look at the front fixing pont that the screw has lost its head, and think. The screws are plastic and not very deep so shall I drill it out, I tried this and well it's not all out but getting there, I've also tried screwing a thin screw down there to clear it, no luck. I'm thinking I will find a long thin screw and use this instead of the wide bolt that was supplied. I don't want to drill too much and damage the thread of the fixing point.

Any thoughts or have I messed up big style???
