I now have the police cars chasing me and an owl in my glove box! It's fairly quiet at the moment, but quite noticeable when the engine is cold, spooling up and down between 1 and 2k revs when driving. It goes away when the engine is up to full operating temp. Car has full mostly VW service history, no expense spared and is immaculate. 57k miles. It is however 12 years old and these cars have a bad rep for reliability. It pulls well and does not smoke or use oil. Should I just ignore it or spend a small fortune on a new or recon turbo?
