Vauxhall Specialist in Suffolk? - Hew Jamsandwich
I need to have a camshaft drivebelt replaced and diesel engine valve clearances checked on a Vauxhall. I know that a Vauxhall dealership can do the job but of course at main dealership prices.

I could take it to any independent garage but I'd rather not have the work done by some jack-of-all-makes with a Haynes manual propped open under the bonnet (not that there's a Haynes manual for the engine anyway).

Can anybody please recommend an independent garage that specialises in Vauxhalls in the Ipswich/Bury St Edmunds area? If you can't name names, the postcode might be enough. Nothing shown in Yellow Pages. Thanks.

Providing the vehicle is over 3 yrs old, try looking to se if you have a local Masterfit in your area. Same Vaux mechanics, same Vaux parts, in fact owned by Vauxhall, but a lot cheaper than main agent prices.

Thanks Dave, but the local Masterfit is also a main dealership. Same reception desk, same workshop - do they really have two prices?

The Vauxhall Franchise near me also own a premises 10 miles down the road which is a Masterfit franchise. I was quoted the same price to have my 2 yr old Vectra serviced at both places; major service for £210 (with brake fluid change). Had it been a 3yr old Vectra, I could have got the same service done, with an MOT thrown in for £125 inclusive at the Masterfit place.
