Not ignore the fault for a month ?

Nodoby can tell over the internet, it could be one of any number of faults. You will have to get a proper diagnostics carried out.

Having "anti pollution fault" is a generic warning, it could be a dozen things or more causing it, from a faulty part to bad fuel.

Google "Peugeot Planet Map" and you'll find a map of competent fellow Peugeot owners with the Planet diagnostic equipment.

Once upon a time cars needed regular routine maintenance and running repairs. Contact breaker points, ignition timing, carburettor, valve clearances, grease points, brakes etc all needed regular attention, and eventually structural corrosion would send it to the scrap yard. Modern cars are different. There are no points, no grease nipples, no carburettor, no tappetts to adjust, and they don't rust anywhere near as bad as they once did.

But - cars now have to meet strict emission regulations, and as they get older and parts become worn, blocked, restricted, weakened, partially seized, this conspires against the engine management control module which is trying, largely in vain, to run the engine within the specified emmision limits. Eventually there becomes a point where it can't do it, and so on comes your warning lamp telling you there's a fault. It doesn't tell you what the fault is, it only tells you there is one. You now need to take your car to a suitable garage, or other qualified person with the correct equipment who can diagnose your problem and do whatever is necessary to fix it.

Situations like yours were inevitable from the day your car was built. The only way to avoid this inevitability and the cost that goes with it is don't own one.

You should do what any sensible person would do. i.e. RFFM (read the fekin manual). It will tell you to proceed immediately to a garage. It will certainly not tell you to wait a month and then ask on a forum.

Unbelievable.

<< Unbelievable. >>

I hesitate to use the word Nonsense here, but I will. There are plenty of everyday drivers who expect their vehicles to continue working faultlessly with almost no intervention beyond keeping the fuel tank topped up. The manual that comes with the car is not the most user-friendly, and may well never have been looked at - and quite likely will not answer their question intelligibly. However it may be a little unusual that one such driver has approached an erudite forum like this one to ask for advice?

I'm very worried at an increasing number of people who, when they have an engine warning light or information on screen, they're taking the car to have a diagnostic check - but assuming that clearing the fault codes fixes the car.

It was like the car I looked at for someone last week. No service history since 2012, because the owner believed servicing was done every two years or 20,000 miles and they hadn't done 20,000 miles yet, so didn't think it needed one.
