SEAT Leon ST - Coolant light - RosieJane
The coolant light came on in my SEAT leon after being parked in a car park over a weekend. The light stayed on initially but then when I stopped and restarted the engine the light went out. The engine was about 90 degrees when driving. Is this likely a faulty light on the dashboard or something that needs further investigation?

Simple check first.open the bonnet and check the level of coolant in the expansion tank .it will be a pink colour.on the tank are levels for min and max.make sure the level is at max,but with engine cold ,on level ground.

Ignore modern gauges, they are little better than a warning light. All show "normal" when an engine is anywhere between about 70 and 120 degrees. The fan does not switch on in most cars until the engine is well over 100 degrees yet when you sit in traffic with the fan on the gauge still shows "normal".

The simple fact is your car is nearly new and under warranty, take it to a Seat dealer and get them to sort it. If you carry on driving with a fault they could balme you should catatrophic failure occur which would then cost you a small fortune.
